Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute's Carisolo is entitled to strip fitter for her debut at Windsor and has to be respected but Takafu caught the eye at Newmarket last time and is taken to confirm superiority there with main rival Baie des Flamands. The last mentioned has run with credit in all three starts so far and the Barry Hills-trained colt cannot be dismissed lightly but the son of Kingmambo had every chance at headquarters and ultimately came up short finishing just behind the selection in the race won by Nuwara Eliya. Marcus Tregoning's Meggido has found a place in his last two starts but they have been in poor contests and the son of Green Desert may have to settle for a place again. James Bethell's The Cooie looks to be nothing out of the ordinary and the vote goes to Takafu. The William Haggas-trained gelding was well held on his Newmarket debut over a mile but caught the eye staying on strongly in the latter stages when stepped up to this trip on a return visit to the course earlier this month and is taken to open his account today.
