    Verdict

Cape Alex has shown his best form on the all-weather so far, as has Italian Riviera, but three of their rivals are previous course and distance winners. As long as the ground doesn't get any softer, EMBSAY CRAG makes more appeal than Riptide and Petella as he won by 10 lengths here last month and was taking on better opposition over a shorter trip at Carlisle next time. Kodicil beat Petella and Mister Carter at Ripon last time but has been raised 5lb while Madam Lilibet is 4lb higher than when scoring at Newcastle and seems to need a soft surface. Tobacco's run at Nottingham last time was too bad to be true and the three-year-old has claims on an earlier victory over 1m7f at Warwick.
