        Verdict

        Not a bad little handicap where our short list comprises Snow Crystal, Shumookh, Collateral Damage and Speedy Sam, and we take Collateral Damage to score. Tim Easterby's rangy colt handles cut well and although he has not yet won over this trip, he has given the impression that a mile is within his compass. He is in form with a York win last time and comes here fresh from a break and he is our idea of the winner. Shumookh stepped up on a promising debut to win at Nottingham last time and will have to continue that learning curve to take this, but is open to plenty of improvement. Snow Crystal won at the first time of asking at Yarmouth and is immediately stepped up to this trip. He will get further in time and with improvement expected here he could go close. Speedy Sam lived up to his name when scoring on Southwell's fibresand last time and will handle any rain, so don't rule him out, but Collateral Damage is a very nice colt who can confirm that with a win here.
