A rather inauspicious start to proceedings with the weights headed by Dickie Le Davoir, who came with a wet sail to score at Newcastle last Saturday. He has a penalty here for his troubles but is a previous C&D winner, as is Powerful Pierre. Tim Easterby runs Another Citizen, a beaten favourite at Chester last week, and veteran Ryedane while Bryan Smart's Bartley is the only three-year-old in the contest. CONSISTANT has yet to win on Turf but was only beaten a head over C&D last month and also ran well over track and trip in June. Daniel Muscutt is a promising apprentice and the youngster can notch up another victory here. Catterick third Restless Bay is also chasing a first success on Turf but is a lot more exposed.
