In depth
Verdict
A very competitive sprint handicap with Devon Flame, Mr Wolf and Desert Lord all in top form, the pick of the trio for us is Desert Lord. Alan Berry's top-weight was most impressive when easily beating the good yardstick Salviati over the five furlong trip here last time. That was a much improved performance and if wasn't a one off he could follow up over this longer trip. Devon Flame made it two in a row when readily beating Conjuror at Salisbury last time and should go well under Seb Sanders. Mr Wolf, as with most of David Barker's sprinters, is in great heart at the moment and as he won well over course and distance last time he has to be respected. In a wide open affair Outer Hebrides and Trojan Flight are also weighted to go well, but there may be more to come from Desert Lord and this one just edges the decision.
