Van Gerwen won this in 2016 but he has a 6lb penalty for last week’s victory at Beverley and has never won from a mark this high. Round The Island has a terrific record around here but is up to his highest-ever mark after last week’s victory on the track. Wrenthorpe went up 4lb for landing a maiden handicap at Redcar and couldn’t cope at Beverley while Magic Pulse, four times an all-weather winner, has never scored on Turf. Harry Hurricane has run two fine races at Windsor and a repeat would see him in the frame though his overall form is on quicker ground. QUEENS GIFT gets the nod as she has only run five times and won twice. Her best runs have been in her two recent races in 6f handicaps where she’s looked the likely winner at this trip.
