Verdict
Ed Dunlop's juveniles tend to show considerable improvement for experience and Battle Chant caught the eye on his Ripon debut last month. The well-bred colt, from the same family as the high class miler Emperor Jones, was staying on steadily when badly hampered in the closing stages and looked most unlucky. Entries in the Middle Park and Gimcrack suggest he can leave the form behind in due course and should get off the mark at this level. Monsieur Bond is entitled to progress from a promising debut second at York earlier in the month and looks the main threat although Go Tech should not be underestimated.
