In depth

Verdict

Joseph O'Brien has entered Global Equity and Lunar Display, who occupied the places in a Listed race at Navan won by Atlantic Fairy. The former came out best but the latter appeared to be travelling better until two late mistakes put paid to her chances. The stable also run Miss Pernickety but she will need major improvement to get involved. Willie Mullins has won this for the past five years and GREAT WHITE SHARK landed a Grade B handicap at the Galway Festival before winning the Cesarewitch at Newmarket. She started favourite for the Grade 2 Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran last time but ran poorly in testing conditions and was beaten a distance. That was obviously not her form and, at her best, she would be fancied to beat Black Tears, who has twice been beaten by Mullins' inmates this campaign after ending last season finishing second in the Coral Cup. Western Victory is by no means out of this though has to concede weight to the principals.
