In depth

Verdict

Cadmium looked a very smart prospect when completing a double earlier this year but disappointed at this level at Galway then was beaten fair and square by ORNUA at Roscommon where his jumping let him down. The winner is penalised 3lb but had plenty in hand at the finish and his slick jumping will have these at full stretch. His stable companion Classic Theatre is held on that latter run but classy juvenile hurdler Mitchouka has been sent chasing very early in his career and it looked like paying dividends when he travelled with ease throughout at Gowran only to fall at the last. He gets 14lb from the selection and is an obvious threat though experience could hold the key. Gordon Elliott also saddles Cubomania, who has won three times over fences and once on the Flat since having wind surgery though faces much stronger opposition. Winter Escape, a very smart hurdler for Alan King, was very impressive when scoring by 11l at Galway though could do with some rain.
