Verdict

Willie Mullins had several high-class entries for this and has chosen the race to reintroduce MIKAEL D'HAGUENET to fences. A brilliant novice hurdler, he never appeared to recover from a last-fence fall when making his debut for the yard over the bigger obstacles at Fairyhouse two years ago. He did produce a couple of decent efforts and hopefully can start fulfilling his enormous potential. Mount Benbulben, a Grade 2 winner over timber, is a big threat as he made a reasonable debut over fences over what was undoubtedly a trip too short at Naas. That looked a very hot event and with improvement virtually guaranteed he will make his presence felt this season. Useful hurdler Best Served Cold made a fair start over fences at Galway but gives the impression a longer trip would suit and though El Fontan has been going well he's now had 11 starts over fences and looks vulnerable.
