Verdict

JAMES'S GATE made most for an impressive debut victory here then ran a superb race in the championship bumper at Cheltenham. Both starts were on heavy ground but there's no reason to believe he couldn't be as effective on today's going. Naas winner Music Drive finished eighth at Cheltenham but Joyeux Machin, who had been beaten six lengths by Facile Vega at Leopardstown in December, didn't act on the ground and pulled up. The latter holds Tag Man on their run at Navan while Sir Jimmy Mac made a spectacular debut when making all for a 24-length victory at Downpatrick with a subsequent winner in third.
