      Verdict

STARBOARD went to Ascot with a big reputation and looked to be cruising throughout but found little when the pressure was exerted. He'll be better for the run and looks another for the in-form John Gosden though there are plenty of dangers. Scrupul was well beaten in that Ascot event but showed the benefit with a very good run over a mile at York and can improve further. Shatter ran green on her debut over 6f at Yarmouth and will have come on greatly for the run while there are some choicely-bred newcomers to note. The expensive purchase Cardinal Walter is related to a host of classy winners; Galician is a half-sister to five winners in Australia; and the Dubai Destination filly Moorside Magic is the first foal of a mare from a very good family.
