Verdict

This is just the second nursery of the year, and all of the horses are in the weights proper with the absence of Mister Manannan who was entered up at the five day declaration stage. None of the top half a dozen look to be that well-treated and so we will take a chance on MILITARY CALL ahead of Transfixed and Victoire De Lyphar. Ed McMahon's son of Royal Applause was well-held recently at Musselburgh behind Reignier, but that race is working out pretty well. An opening mark of 67 certainly looks workable and with improvement to come he is selected. Lady Lube Rye drops in class, Gentle Beat shaped with more promise last time, whilst Saxby impressed in selling grade last time and was well-backed to do so but this is much tougher. Pat Haslam has some good juveniles in so the unexposed Whispered Times is taken to progress once again, whilst the drop in trip looks a good move for Victoire De Lyphar after a run over seven furlongs last time. Dancing Freddie was well-beaten in the Windsor Castle but his previous third to Capercaillie reads well, as do Transfixed's form figures but this is a step up in class. However she represents a yard that are shrewd and are always quick to strike with their juveniles, but bearing that in mind we are still prepared to plump for Military Call.
