In depth

Verdict

Violet Park is taken to defy a penalty against In The Pink, La Vie Est Belle and Mount Hillaby in an open looking affair for fillies. Violet Park paid to follow last season and did not take long to make her mark when scoring at Lingfield just three days ago. It has to be said that she was a wee bit lucky to keep the race as she veered across in front of the more fancied Lord Links, but she was a bit fresh that day and hopefully will have calmed down enough to defy a six-pound penalty. La Vie Est Belle's second to Mecca's Mate at Musselburgh in April reads well now, but that was over five furlongs, while In The Pink is five-pound better off with Pintle for finishing the same amount of lengths behind that rival at Newcastle last term, but both make their seasonal return today. Mount Hillaby in contrast has already had four runs this year, has winning form to her name and likes fast ground. It would be no surprise were she to reverse recent Hamilton form with River Of Babylon on the faster ground, while Najaaba will appreciate the drop in grade after tackling Listed company at Goodwood but would prefer softer terrain underfoot, and all in all, Violet Park has the scope to progress enough to win again.
