In depth
Verdict
Rose Of Inchinor showed marked improvement in her latest start and she gets the nod over Riotous Applause and Midnight Pearl. The stoutly-bred newcomer Basque is also worth noting in the betting, as Mark Johnston has enjoyed a good strike-rate with his first-time-out juveniles this term. This daughter of King's Best does look more of a long term prospect, though, and this trip may be on the sharp side for her. Midnight Pearl showed little in her first couple of outings but shaped encouragingly at Hamilton when she last raced. She does need to continue to progress but can pick up a small nursery off her current mark. Riotous Applause was worried out of things on her debut and created the impression that she has a bit of learning to do. However, she still ran with promise and is one to bear in mind if the market speaks in her favour. Nevertheless, Rose Of Inchinor is fancied to have the edge on this occasion. The Marcus Tregoning-trained filly went down fighting when she chased home a potentially useful type at Windsor three weeks ago. That outing sets the standard here and, with the cut in the ground sure to suit her if she runs typical of her pedigree, Rose Of Inchinor looks the one to beat in the opener at Redcar.
