In depth

Verdict

DOCTOR CRANE may be a little flattered by his official mark nowadays but he's still the best horse in this contest. Runner-up in a Sandown claimer in July, he failed to figure in a Shergar Cup race last time but a repeat of his six-length defeat at Ascot would still be good enough to land this. Stablemate Fremen is always worth considering in these races and Soccerjackpot should be in the shake-up having finished a creditable third in a handicap here recently. Glenmuir showed a bit more last time and July's Beverley winner Auto Mac could also make the frame.
