Verdict
An open looking apprentice handicap, with Halcyon Magic likely to be a warm order after wins over both six and seven furlongs at Yarmouth on his last two starts. Off the same mark once again and back over six furlongs, he is up to winning again here. The four-year-old won't have things all his own way though, and there will be a few others who also have their eyes on the prize. Among them is likely to be Love Thing, though she does look to be in the grip of the handicapper since taking a fast ground maiden at Doncaster in June. A place may be the best she can hope for here. One in decent form is Linda Perrett-trained Friar Tuck. The seven-year-old has gone in on fast ground in the past, but has not won for over two years and is still on a higher mark then when recording that last success. Clearly exposed, he still cannot be discounted as far as placed money is concerned. But the one to chase home the selection is more likely to be Snow Bunting. A fast ground course and distance winner last time, the gelding has definite claims and providing some inconsistency can be overcome, he should run a big race. Others to come into calculations will be course and distance winner Dizzy In The Head and Legal Set.
