In depth

Verdict

An interesting maiden where the principals look to be Hunt The Bottle and Crystany, while Miesko and First Trim are both very much respected and we take Crystany to score. Henry Cecil's filly has run well in two previous tries at this trip in maiden company, the latter a very good effort behind Fashion Rocks in a better class of race than this at Glorious Goodwood. She should have no problem on quicker ground here and can just take this. Hunt The Bottle steps back up to 6f here and is an interesting contender from the Barry Hills stable. Decent ground suits and if he can maintain his level of form he will be thereabouts, though his draw is not the best. The same can be said of both Miesko and First Trim. The first of that pair improved, as expected, from his first start when runner up at Catterick to his second at Newbury, when dropped to this trip. Mark Johnston will probably get more out of him again here, so he can go close. First Trim represents Brian Meehan and has been given a lengthy break since a pleasing Newbury debut. It won't be a major shock if he is good enough to win this, but preference is for Crystany.
