In depth

Verdict

Singe Anglais gave odds-on backers a few anxious moments at Beverley last time before getting up close home. This is a more competitive affair and Nigel Tinkler’s gelding doesn’t look particularly well drawn. Mr Gus showed improvement on his handicap bow but previous runs on rain-softened ground offered less encouragement whereas SCHUMLI appeared to relish the easier surface last time at Catterick and could be on a fair mark. Isobar Wind is a course and distance winner but steps out of selling company under top weight and Shepherds Way, who has a nice pedigree, has more scope.
