Verdict
Conditions on the night could play a large part in the outcome here, but with WIGWAM WILLIE appearing slightly more versatile in that respect we will side with him ahead of Bollin Dolly, while Veiled Applause is also given serious consideration. Our selection is attempting to win this race for the third year in succession and races from a mark of 85 today, the same pitch as when scoring on good to soft 12 months ago. The vast majority of his wins have been with some cut, although he did take this on good two years back and with the yard going well enough he will probably be turned out spot on for this and is just preferred. Any softening of the ground would enhance his claim. Conversely, Bollin Dolly has shown all of her best form on fast ground. She gets a very handy 10lbs from our pick and she has course and distance winning form, but if the going doesn't quicken up then she won't be placed to advantage and so she is just taken on. Veiled Applause is adaptable as far as the going is concerned and won a similar race at this track from a 3lbs higher mark in 2008. The first-time visor also makes him of interest and if it means that he wants to get on with things then with this track making front-runners notoriously hard to pass he could give them all a fright, though the yard could be in better form. Nevada Desert is weighted to be very competitive, but is clearly best over a mile, while Persian Peril gets 1m 4f and would come more into it if the rains came. Tepmokea is proving hard to win with and looks vulnerable from tonight's mark of 79, and with the going unlikely to get any quicker Wigwam Willie can take this contest for a third time.
