Verdict
SAMARKAND looks a progressive type and was an impressive winner over this trip on the Polytrack at Kempton eight days ago. Sir Mark Prescott's gelding has a 6lb penalty to carry here but may be improving quickly enough to follow up. Lexington Bay had Sky Falcon back in third when beating another Prescott runner, Motivado, at Musselburgh earlier this month and can't be ignored while Defence Of Duress finished ahead of the selection at Newcastle three weeks ago and is 5lb better off here, though may not have as much scope. Dark Dune, a winner at Pontefract in April, was second over a longer trip at Nottingham last time and looks best of the rest.
