In depth

Verdict

This looks much more competitive than the first division. Poetic Lord couldn't get past Cillan's Return in a big field at Tipperary but that was a fine hurdling debut and there's certain to be more to come. Rich Coast is rated 110 on the Flat after landing a Listed contest at Cork in October. He didn't run badly on his hurdling bow but pulled up at Leopardstown in December and hasn't been seen since. Winning bumper Voluptueux started a short-priced favourite on his debut over timber at Kilbeggan but could only finish third behind Queen Alphabet and Erlkonig. The latter has won subsequently so the form looks decent. Ballychorus looked a smart prospect when storming away with a Killarney bumper so she has to be considered but it's about time HONEY POUND was winning and his recent close second to Ashgar at Tramore gives him the edge.
