In depth
Verdict
This race appears to lack strength in depth but it does possess some classy performers, among them being Zietory and Silk Fan, with the latter getting the vote, while Caveral and Fanny's Fancy are others that could go well. This is a fillies' handicap named in honour of that great racemare, Lochsong, and Silk Fan, despite having finished a length-and-a-half behind Zietory when they met in a Listed race at Sandown 12 days ago, might get the upper hand on this occasion. The latter may have got the run of the race that day and is now three pounds worse off at the weights. To be fair, the pair are decent performers but we just prefer Silk Fan, who is also a course and distance winner. Of the others, Caveral, whose best form has come at six furlongs but looked as though she might benefit from a step up to seven when third at Ascot last time, and Fanny's Fancy, who was two heads behind Caveral at Ascot, might prove the best. However, the quality lies at the top of the handicap and, accordingly, Silk Fan is taken to score.
