          Verdict

          SHADED EDGE is narrowly preferred in this finale ahead of Mocha Java, Zazous and Cross The Line. David Arbuthnot's gelding was not at his best last time out on the all-weather at Lingfield but he is better judged on his win at that track in March. He is unexposed on the turf and has a bit to prove but this mark of 62 may not be beyond him and he has a good jockey up. Zazous also has a good jockey up, former champion Lorraine Ellison. A course and distance winner in the past, the son of Zafonic is rated better than his final start last year. Mocha Java has been holding his form well and Taffy Salaman's runner deserves respect off a 3lb higher mark than his win at Southwell. Melt is best over a mile and the likelihood is that he will not be winning here, but another placing looks likely, whilst Cross The Line, Manchestermaverick and Interactive have been holding their form well this season. The market will help guide as to what is expected of the Milton Bradley pair, whilst Batchworth Blaize and Sovereignty are both capable of better than may have been on offer recently. A tricky race to finish with, where the market may provide plenty of clues, but without that information we will side with Shaded Edge.
