Verdict
Shadow Bay, Finnegan McCool and Servoca are the trio to look at here, with Finnegan McCool getting the vote. Shadow Bay has not been seen since April when he ran a great race to finish a close fourth behind a useful type at Ripon. The race worked out well but Shadow Bay has been off the track since and is not proven on a fast surface-his latest start was on an easy surface. Servoca finished runner-up in two solid races before being decisively beaten in the Norfolk Stakes. This is step down in class after that Group Two affair but top weight may prove an anchor. Finnegan McCool left previous form behind when benefitting from a well judged George Baker ride at Windsor, coing from off the pace to score nicely. Classic winning trainer Ralph Beckett is considering a tilt at a top Newbury contest with his charge, and he may end up better than a handicapper in due course. Finnegan McColl is on the upgrade and can follow up.
