In depth
Verdict
Alderney didn't go on from a very encouraging winning debut last year but with another winter on his back he gets the vote to resume winning ways at the main expense of Oldjoesaid. Michael Jarvis has started the season well and he drops this filly back to six furlongs after she failed to get home over longer trips last year. She can be keen in her races but against her own age group here, she holds solid claims. Oldjoesaid comes here in search of the hat-trick after decisive successes at Sandown and Windsor (the last a competitive handicap) and he looks the main danger, however he may just be outclassed by Alderney who potentially looks better than a handicapper. College Scholar should come on for his recent run as he did last season and so has claims although the feeling is that an extra furlong may suit as he gets older. Dazed And Amazed and Cav Okay represent Richard Hannon however both need to step up on recent efforts to figure today, and so we will return to Alderney as the selection.
