In depth

Verdict

A decent maiden on paper where the majority of the top stables have sent runners. Richard Hannon has two and it could be that BIG ISSUE is the best of the pair. He was a fair second at Goodwood on debut and gave the impression that he will learn plenty for the run. Signs In The Sand was a beaten favourite on debut so the market is given another cursory check. Sluggsy Morant was a beaten favourite at Chepstow and this looks a tougher assignment. Basilica is related to a number of sprinting types and though it is a concern that he has not seen the racecourse since May; he showed enough on that introduction to suggest that there was a race within his compass.
