In depth
Verdict
Flag Lieutenant is no Stoute stable star but should be good enough to take a handicap off his current mark, Flotta and Idealistic appear to be the obvious dangers. The selection was made a warm favourite for what seemed a weak Hamilton maiden last time out but was beaten by a 16/1 chance. However the winner has since performed with credit in handicaps off marks in the eighties and so Flag Lieutenant may have got in here lightly. Flotta comes here in good heart having gained a hard fought success over Jack Of Trumps in a similar race at Doncaster last time. He could still be on the upgrade and will be hard to keep out of the money. Idealistic looked in need of her recent run at Doncaster and will strip a lot fitter this afternoon. The rest appear to have something to prove and so Flag Lieutenant doesn't appear to have too difficult a task here and gets a confident vote.
