In depth

Verdict

Lord Protector is unbeaten in novice company having won at Windsor on his reappearance and beating the re-opposing Wahraan in the process. He makes his handicap debut along with another novice winner in JARAMILLO (NAP). The latter scored at Leicester last month and a couple of fancy entries later in the season suggest he’s capable of winning at this level before going on to better things. Fountain Cross ran well in this grade at Newmarket last time and is preferred to Lightening Shore while both Knight Salute and Saligo Bay will appreciate this longer trip.
