Verdict
The hat-trick seeking SUPER FRANK can strike again. Shaded Edge is another in-form rival that is worth considering, while Hobson and Miss Glitters complete the shortlist. Miss Glitters cost 60,000euro at the sales and returned the first repayment by winning at Southwell last time out. She has more on her plate here but she has to be respected as a filly of potential. Hobson won at Yarmouth in good style on his penultimate outing - dropping a significant hint that he might have slipped under the radar as far as the handicapper was concerned. However, he reverted to type last time at Chepstow and, despite possessing lots of ability; he will never be one to trust implicitly. Shaded Edge, like the selection, is really on a roll and must enter the calculations in his current frame of mind. However, he has 12lb extra to carry and is beginning to look vulnerable as the penalties mount up. Therefore, it can pay to side with Super Frank, who has won four of his last five starts and is very well treated in comparison to his mark on the all-weather. Having proved he is equally effective on turf; the John Akehurst-trained gelding is worth another throw of the dice today. A crack at a race like this may be a shrewd move by the Epsom-based trainer. And there is every chance Akehurst can squeeze another win out of Super Frank while the gelding is so obviously at the top of his game.
