    In depth

    Formwatch

King's Ironbridge (IRE) Smart performer at best (won Group 3 Craven Stakes on reappearance) and not disgraced in 2,000 Guineas; disappointed on first run for new trainer at Goodwood (tried to make all, weakened) but still finished in front of Surprise Encounter although latter is now 4lb better off; will find it tough with 8lb penalty.

Surprise Encounter Lightly raced and progressive handicapper (impressive winner of Royal Hunt Cup); flopped in better company latest but may do better on quicker surface and should be given another chance.

Umistim Won Craven Stakes last year and back to best with game success at Newbury latest; prefers slightly easier surface but otherwise a leading contender.

Down To The Woods (USA) Useful juvenile but hasn't fulfilled that promise over a variety of trips this term; well beaten behind Nayef at Haydock latest and now blinkered for first time on this return to a mile; others preferred.

Momentum (USA) Generally progressive type who carried topweight to victory in Newmarket handicap latest but more required here.

Smirk Best with plenty of cut in ground and faces stiffer task in this company after winning handicap off mark of 84 latest.
