Verdict
Lake View Lad, who is also engaged at Wetherby, bravely held off Santini and Native River in the Grade 2 Many Clouds at Aintree but is 6lb worse off with the placed horses. Santini was subsequently a length-and-a-half behind Saint Calvados when only fifth in the King George but should reverse that form given this much stiffer test of stamina. BRISTOL DE MAI is not a confident selection as his stable has been out of sorts and he often disappoints away from his beloved Haydock but he is one of the few in this guaranteed to enjoy conditions. Yala Enki is a thorough stayer but probably not up to this class.
