In depth

Verdict

An interesting event with some lightly raced and potentially well treated types in opposition including Anatar. Martin Pipe's gelding has proved most progressive after landing handicaps at Newton Abbot and Plumpton before just being touched off at Kempton last time. The son of Caerleon looked likely to complete a hat-trick on he latter occasion having travelled sweetly until making a bad blunder at the second last which effectively cost him the race. Sure to have come on again for the experience, the four-year-old can resume winning ways in favoured conditions so gets the TEAMtalk nod. Chief cashier has been a model of consistency of late and must be feared after placed efforts in competitive handicaps this term despite a subsequent 5lb rise. Kalca Mome confirmed the merit of his debut when a comfortable winner of a Haydock novice last month and is another open to improvement on his handicap bow. Roman King will appreciate the return to this trip after failing to last home over 2m4f at Perth last time while the ultra consistent Picture Palace is capable of going close if fit for this seasonal return.
