Verdict
Hot Prospect is bound to be popular with backers following an encouraging debut outing when finding just Vale Of York, a winner again at Goodwood on Tuesday, too good in a York maiden and he has to be respected but the Michael Jarvis-trained colt is unlikely to represent much in the way of value and it may be worth giving another chance to CORSICA, who gets the vote over Lyric Poet. Saeed bin Suroor's colt was well held on his first start in a Newmarket maiden last month having been slowly away and running green. He should improve markedly for that experience and the son of Distorted Humor cannot be discounted in a race that may be more competitive than the market would suggest. Marcus Tregoning has his string in good form so Lajidaal, a stoutly bred son of Dynaformer, has to be respected on his debut. Count Bertoni has not progressed from a promising first start in public in two subsequent outings and of more interest may be Morana. Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt is another interesting newcomer but, being by Alhaarth, may prefer a softer surface and a safer option looks to be Corsica. Mark Johnston's colt ran well first time up last month when second over course and distance but failed to run up to that level of form at Thirsk subsequently. That run was to bad too be true and he looks worth another chance.
