In depth

Verdict

A very open race, but perhaps CHAIM can poke his nose in-front at the main expense of recent winner Tara Taylor and Prince De Seuil. Lucy Wadham's gelding did not go on as expected over fences in the winter but he ran well in defeat behind Pearl at Huntingdon last time out. He is able to race off the same mark of 107 today and with this good ground in his favour he should go close. Prince De Seuil should strip fitter for a recent fourth behind Good For Blue at Huntingdon; his profile is a bit iffy but he has the talent to pick up a race like this. Pinerock was readily left behind at Chepstow in January and cheek-pieces are now added, Priors Glen has some very solid form behind him and a mark of 116 actually looks manageable, whilst City Heights is a former point-to-point winner who should be staying on well up the hill when others have cried enough. Hope Road has something to prove, Dr Hart and Apache Chant have both been holding their form well, whilst Tara Taylor scored with ease in a first-time tongue-tie at Ffos Las and should go well despite a 13lb loftier perch. The market may help somewhat, but marginal preference is for Chaim.
