Verdict

This has an open look about it with several open to further improvement. If You Say Run got nowhere near Maria’s Benefit over 2m at Taunton but the return to a longer trip will help Paul Nicholls’ mare. Midnight Tune paid the price for setting too strong a pace last time at Ascot but she faces a battle for the lead here from the likes of Sensulano, Banjo Girl, Redemption Song and Naranja. The latter is on a steep upward curve and could be the pick of that quartet but the extra distance should suit Melangerie, who is a half-sister to four winners who all stayed beyond 2m. She’s won her last two and will attract support given connections but ALL CURRENCIES may offer more value. Gary Moore’s six-year-old beat Melangerie at Worcester in the autumn in a race that’s worked out well and was very impressive upped to this trip at Newbury, though needs forgiving a poor run at Taunton in between when well behind If You Say Run. Oh Michelle will be winning soon but probably not today.
