Verdict
A careful eye should be kept on the market to see if General Duroc is expected to be back to something like his best and he is well worth considering if the signs are positive. However, he was very disappointing on his reappearance and has something to prove today. Therefore, the selection goes to Leith Hill Star, who ran a cracker to finish a short-head behind the progressive Rakassa at Kempton earlier in the month. Downtherefordancing and Lupin can be given solid chances on the best of their form, whilst it would be folly to rule out Day Du Roy, even though he does not look to be the most resolute horse in a finish. In contrast to Leith Hill Star, who finished in the money in six of her last seven starts. The eight-year-old mare does have a little to prove from 3lb out of the handicap, but her recent form suggests that she is up to the task and another bold bid is anticipated.
