Verdict
The winning run of A One came to an end at Chepstow earlier this month and now looks to be in the grip of the handicapper so the vote goes to Rebate, who is preferred to Factual Lad. The last mentioned showed improved form when landing a handicap over this trip at Brighton last month but a 5lb higher mark leaves him with more to do. Top weight Barry Island is gradually dropping to a fair mark and has to be respected but could need some more help from the handicapper. Jalons Star would be interesting, if fit enough, after a lengthy absence but it is impossible to know how much ability he retains, while Movie King is inconsistent. The vote then goes to Richard Hannon's Rebate, who can race off a career low mark but showed a return to form at Bath last time and a reproduction of his effort there may suffice.
