      Verdict

This is a really competitive handicap but Azano goes on the shortlist having come up against an improver at Newmarket. YAANAAS (NAP) and Helm Rock were second and third respectively behind Chasing Aphrodite at Ascot. Jim Crowley is reunited with Roger Varian’s gelding today and he can resume winning ways. Aerion Power hasn’t won for a while but stable companion Assessment made a winning reappearance at Kempton and was favourite for a valuable handicap at York last week only to be withdrawn after bursting through the front of the stalls. Indemnify and Yantarni are both having a first run of the season.
