Edge Closer's only win since 2008 was in this contest last year. He's back on the same mark for today's renewal but finished well behind Tidal's Baby at Goodwood last month. The latter has claims despite a 6lb rise and is preferred to Mission Approved, a dual winner over 7f and yet to race over today's minimum trip. O'Gorman won't mind the drop back in distance having scored at Windsor in June while Swendab landed a double over 5f before struggling in better company over a longer trip last time. BURNING THREAD went close at Doncaster a fortnight ago with Dungannon well beaten and Tim Etherington's course and distance winner gets the nod ahead of Joe Packet, a runner-up here last month.
