In depth

Verdict

MISTER SPINGSPRONG was always being niggled to lie up with the pace over 2m at Catterick last time but he kept on well to finish second and the step back in trip is certain to suit. Brian Ellison’s 10-year-old is preferred to the frustrating Chidswell, despite the official ratings giving the latter a slight advantage. Jack In A Box unsurprisingly got tired when second at Southwell but still finished ahead of a previous winner and that wasn’t a bad first run under Rules.
