Verdict

Assumetheposition can defy a penalty at the expense of Rich Song, Heather Lad and Ballito. None of this lot were any great shakes over hurdles, including the selection Assumetheposition who has at least got plenty of experience to his credit over the bigger obstacles now. He came good at Market Rasen over the weekend, staying on at the finish, and with that in mind, the extra furlong will not be a problem as he bids to shrug off a 7lb penalty. Rich Song was beaten when falling on his last outing at Market Rasen, but was hit with a 10lb rise for an earlier victory at the Lincolnshire track, so would have done well to win anyway. He needs to to come down the weights a bit, while Heather Lad is no spring chicken and surely has no improvement in him. Ballito has the help of Richard Johnson in the saddle, and would have place claims at the very least on his Irish form, so rates as a danger to all, but Assumetheposition is taken to come out on top.
