Verdict
A low draw is a big plus here over this trip, so the one's to concentrate on include Czar Wars, Boisdale, front-runner Superapparos, who should have no trouble leading from his stall, and Blakeset, who gets the vote. David Barron's gelding confirmed his well-being when scoring at Wolverhampton earlier this week, when proving too strong for Risk Free. He is a reliable sort, unlike most of his rivals and while this trip may be short of his best, it is likely to be soundly run with Superapparos likely to take the field along from stall 5. Roy Bowring's frustrating nine-year-old is still looking for that elusive first success. However, while he has plenty to find on official figures he does seem to run his best races here and won't be easy to peg back. Czar Wars has been a grand servant to connections and while he is clearly on the downgrade, he is still capable at this level. He is closely matched with Boisdale on their running here last month and they have pace claims at least. The draw looks to have put paid to the chances of Festive Affair and On The Trail, but Champagne Rider isn't out of this if returning to his best, something he hasn't been for some time now.
