David Loder's horses are seemingly out of form at present so his representative Optimum looks worth taking on and a better bet looks to be Diatonic, who is preferred to Fair Along. The selection finished second in a seven-furlong seller here last term but is bred to come into his own over middle distances, being by Deploy out of an Old Vic mare, and is taken to show marked improvement now that he steps up in distance. Top weight Fair Along seemed not to appreciate the drop back in trip at Wolverhampton last time and can do better now that he is returned to a longer distance. He rates a bigger threat than Jeremy Noseda's Detroit City, who looks plenty high enough in the weights for what he has achieved so far. Baileys Honour has done all of his racing on sand at the Polytrack venues, while Dizzy Future is a far from certain stayer. With David Loder's string out of sorts, Optimum and Bella Miranda are probably best watched and preference is for Diatonic, who is expected to improve for the step up in trip.
