Verdict

A large field goes to post for this handicap chase but there is plenty of dead wood and the principals look to be The Wexford Man, Westfield Dancer and It's My Party and the nomination is given to The Wexford Man. The selection won last time out but was disqualified and placed second behind Ad Murum for causing interference. As a consequence he can race off the same mark here and under conditions that suit he looks the one to be on. Westfield Dancer rates the main danger as he has won his last two races in good style, notably when beating Moonfleet at Cartmel last time out. However he looks sure to be taken on for the lead here and with this in mind he could be vulnerable under his penalty. It's My Party is another that could go well as he was still going well when unshipping his rider last time out. However he is often let down by his jumping at a vital stage and is taken on with this in mind. Of the remainder, Only Dreams is from a shrewd in-form yard but may need the run after a 249-day break while Precious Bane is on a handy mark but has shown little of late so can not be put forward with much confidence. We are therefore happy to return to The Wexford Man who looks progressive and can land the prize.
