        Verdict

        Smart Scot can follow up his recent Southwell win, where sheepskin cheekpieces seemed to work the oracle. Most of the others have very little in the way of recommendable form but Grand View was noted staying on from a hopeless position last time over a furlong-shorter trip and could go well today. Miss Wizz has bits of Turf form that could see her competitive while Richard Fahey's stable is in good heart and the all-weather might see some improvement from Amar. Watch the betting for clues. Zara Louise was also staying on over six last time while James Given's Given A Chance is surely better than she has so far shown. Grub Street won on soft going back in 2000 but has had injury problems since. Overall, then, it's Smart Scot to win again.
