Verdict

Cortinas won this race last year, is only 5lbs higher and Charlie Mann has a 37 per cent strike rate at the track so he appears to have plenty in his favour but that success is an oasis in the desert of his chasing career which has seen him finish second or third on eight occasions with just the one win to show for his troubles. This may not be the strongest race but, as his record suggests, Cortinas is usually worth taking on and preference is for KILKENNY ALL STAR who has form over course and distance and should be able to cope with a 5lb rise for his win at Uttoxeter. Blossom King is capable of featuring prominently, Potemkin built on a promising run to win well at Ffos Las and merits respect if lining up under a penalty whilst it's interesting to see Richard Johnson reunited with Majy D'Auteuil as he has a win and a head defeat to show from two rides on the gelding.
