In depth
Verdict
Psycho Cat looks to have the best chance at the weights and is the selection here, with Aysgarth Flyer, Smart Ass and Twilight Avenger others to consider. The Paul Blockley-trained selection has a fair bit in hand on official ratings and is already a course and distance winner off just a 2lb lower mark in November. We can forgive him his latest flop at Wolverhampton, and with a bit of a break since and the yard still going well we will take him to score. Aysgarth Flyer is 6lb wrong on official ratings and is 9lb higher than when winning here over six furlongs almost two months ago. He's not easy to read, but he does still run as though he wants this trip, and Ian Semple's perseverance will be rewarded one day, but perhaps not here. Smart Ass steps up to 7f for the first time here and that looks to be a smart move that can pay with some prize money, while Twilight Avenger remains a maiden, though is weighted to reverse form with Smart Ass on their 6f running behind Garstang, and should not be far away. But Psycho Cat has the right credentials to win this seller.
