Verdict
Trance gets the call here ahead of Romil Star and Amwell Brave. Trance is well-handicapped now and gave the well-backed Heathyards Pride a late scare over course and distance last time, and he can build on that here. Romil Star and Boris The Spider are course and distance winners and there is no doubt that the former is competitively weighted, but the latter needs a career best. Principal Witness showed improved form at Wolverhampton last time but has yet to win a race, while Amwell Brave comes here in good heart and was only just beaten off a revised winning mark last time, so is respected. Red Forest remains well-weighted on his best Turf form of a year ago, and Woolstone Boy is only two pounds above his 12-furlong course win of October so can be fancied on that basis. Finally, He's A Star ran his best race last time when making his all-weather debut over today's course and distance and, from just a pound higher mark for that runner-up spot, it would be no surprise to see him go well. However, for the selection, we return to Trance.
