Verdict

VICTORY QUEST gets the nod with Blockley and Calculating appearing the obvious dangers. All of our selection's all-weather wins have come at this course so it is clear he has a preference for the fibresand. The nine-year-old won well last time out and has never been one to shirk a battle. Blockley is arguably better than the bare form suggests and is making his debut on the fibresand. It remains to be seen as to whether the surface will suit Ian Williams' gelding. Calculating obliged three times at up to two miles on the sand early last year but his recent form is patchy. He is significantly lower in the weights than his last victory but that is not without good reason. Eforetta is a course and distance winner but has failed to repeat that level of form since reappearance from a long absence. With the remainder appearing up against it, for the winner we stick with Victory Quest.
